What the hell is "Pumpkin Spice"?

And why would you let it anywhere near coffee. Even that revolting stuff that passes for coffee in America?🤮

Pumpkin itself has minimal flavour.
I'm sure the combination is probably derived from a company needing to sell Pumpkins and deciding to drown them in spice as in some way 'marketable'
