Why am I not dead yet?

I first started eating mussels in my mid teens on the beach in Malibu, California. I've always eaten them whenever I could. About 3 years ago I discovered an Asian buffet restaurant about 8 miles from my home and they have excellent steamed mussels. I've been going there about once a week for the last 3 years.

A couple of days ago I decided to go online to read about mussels since I've been eating them nor for about 60 years.

YOWIE!!! According to the article I read I should have died decades ago. These little crustaceans are DANGEROUS!!!🤤 I should be dead by now.

Now I'm wondering if I should stop eating them. Or, to be honest, whether I could stand to give them up after a lifetime mussel habit.

I learned that, with most seafood, they are kept alive right up until they are to be consumed in order to prevent that stuff. The nasty bacteria begins to form the moment the crustacean dies
