There's a very dense dark cake called Parkin we make here near Bonfire Night with oats and dark treacle. A Princess Torte (or Goose Breast) is also high on my list. I really like Sicilian cakes as well, like the Cassata, although I'm as happy with a good, squidgy chocolate brownie or a honey bun.
