I have to have coleslaw with turkey. I go to my daughter's now but I buy KFC coleslaw and take it along.

@Mamapolo2016 :) It's the only thing we get at KFC. When everyone demands fried chicken I usually pick up Popeye's chicken and stop along the way for KFC coleslaw. I'm not a coleslaw fan, but everyone I help feed sure seems to be.
@Heartlander As good as mine - almost. My mother-in-law taught me. Shred the cabbage, sugar it and let it in the fridge for a few hours. THEN the vinegar & mayo & salt & pepper.

@Mamapolo2016 Thanks. I'm generally a cabbage fan, but coleslaws tends to be either too dry or too wet. I personally prefer the more vinegary like the one in the deli of a local supermarket. It's the classic sweet-sour thing I think.
@Heartlander The PA Durch make a chow chow - but not like the Southern one - shredded cabbage with green peppers and diced tomatoes, sweet & sour vinegar dressing. Often canned for the winter. I made it a few times.

@Mamapolo2016 Yea, that's close to one of the deli's variety. But maybe without the diced tomato. And stringed sweet onion slices with the pepper slices. Just a little mayo. Probably sugar or honey added to get a perfect sweet-sour balance. Maybe a touch of soy sauce.

If I was making it myself I'd add a few walnut crumbs and a few diced raisins.

@Mamapolo2016 Someone posted a broiled cabbage recipe on facebook a few days ago.

Between that and your coleslaw, I think it's time for me to experiment with cabbage :)
@Heartlander I love sauteed cabbage in vegetable oil anf a smidge of Chinese (strong sesame) oil.

@Mamapolo2016 Yes, and I was thinking of trying the sesame oil for the slaw rather than the mayo. It will be an experiment. That roasted almond toast that comes with sesame oil may overpower the slaw, so maybe just a touch, along with the mayo.
@Heartlander Love that flavor. Green beans too.
