What are your thoughts on veggie burgers?

I can't understand why vegetarians don't like meat products but want to eat replicas of them made with other food stuffs.

If I don't eat fish, I am not going to be happy with a dish of "salmon" made of lentils and kale....

@Underconstruction Some want to be more creative in the kitchen instead of going for what is plain there.

Most ground beef burgers do not actually taste like beef. @Underconstruction
@Underconstruction And many vegetarians actually like the taste of meat, but they don't eat it for health or moral reasons.
@JoeyFoxx The cheap fast food type maybe.
@bijouxbroussard Very odd.

If I don't like something for moral reasons I certainly don't want it on my table.

@Underconstruction then I don’t understand why someone would want to grind up perfectly good steak to make it taste the same as a decent veggie patty.
@JoeyFoxx 🤔
@Underconstruction If you like the taste of meat and can replicate it without taking a life, why not ? And there's the the issue of health. My mother is a vegetarian for health reasons and she's learned to cook meat and chicken substitutes that are made from vegetables.
@bijouxbroussard If I can't eat something because it goes against my values, I am definitely not going to replicate it.

The world of cooking is wide enough to experiment and try with different ingredients and flavours that do not simulate the food we avoid eating in the first place.

But to each their own.
@Underconstruction To each their own, as you said.

@Underconstruction wait. What? Food that masquerades as something else goes against your values???
