How Do I Bring Leftovers To School ?

So here's my dilemma, I have school from 6.30 to 4.30 everyday and I have a 20 minute lunch break in between morning and afternoon sessions.

This time is way too short because during lunch only 1 counter is open in the cafeteria and its impossible to get food within 20 minutes unless you were in line extremely early, or your cut lines.

To prevent needing to do this I've been bringing buns for lunch but at this point, I'm sick of eating them. I'm eating 8-10 of the same exact bun a week and today I nearly threw up so I decided it was time for a change.

I want to bring my previous night's leftovers for lunch but Im not sure how to keep it safe for eating.

For example maybe I boil some broccoli the night before, then I store them in a Tupperware.

My lunch break is at 1.50 so that's about 7 hours of it sitting inside a Tupperware from home.

Do I have to heat the food up again in the morning or do I just bring the food cold from the fridge?

Also any types of food that are an extreme no-no for storing overnight that I should avoid bringing to school?

Several things you must know:

-It's not good to heat food and immediately pack it in an enclosed plastic container such as a Tupperware and other plastic containers. Trapped vapors can cause bacteria to grow immediately.
-Reheating food from a Tupperware is bad too. Plastic containers when heated emit toxic material unseen by us that the food absorbs, making food toxic.
-You can eat salads using vegetables, also pasta salads if you like, no mayonnaise though, as this is dangerous in the summer when there's high temperature. Salad dressing such as oil and vinegar is best.
-You can eat fruits.
-You can eat canned food which you can open just before eating: tuna, ham spreads, etc. All you have to bring with you is a piece of bread.

*It is also worth bringing up this issue with your school authorities.Food intoxication can be avoided by providing a cool storage for student's packed meals(individually labeled).I know their interest is only to sell their cafeteria products but it's time schools provided something like this for students and a microwave too at their disposal.

You can bring the containers and keep them near you. Are you a teacher or a student? Warming the food prior to eating may have it taste better. You might do better searching your other questions on Google. No; you shouldn't have to reheat. Simply that doing so may have it taste better. I might instead place the sandwich in a 'Rubbermaid' container.

@Carla1951 I'm a student and I don't have any access to a microwave in school so the only time I can warm up my food is at 6 right before I leave for school.

Might it be a better option to just bring my cold food to school then?

If you don't mind spending a little $ buy a freezable lunch bag, got one at Walmart for $13 or you can spend more and get one on Amazon...they are called PK2 by Packit. All the walls of the bag have a freezable gel inside of them so it's like having 3 or 4 of those freezer-gel packs. I also bought a small thermos bottle that fits inside the bag to hold cold or hot drinks (sugar-free chocolate milk most days for the boy).
