Life is very expensive
I went grocery shopping with my mother today and paid for my portion of the groceries to teach me about how expensive life is. Only a few items cost me around $90 which is not bad compared to what it could be but still made me cringe. My mom’s groceries were $135 and that was not a full weeks worth. That was replenishing some basic items. We shopped at Walmart for reference. I worry what I am going to do when I live on my own because disability is not enough to live off of. I’m going to have to work part time to afford basic necessities. Now I need to finish those vocational courses that if I finish will lead either to a portfolio of projects skillcrush.com or the other one if I pass knowadays.com I will get a paid work trial period and if I pass that I will became a full fledged freelancer on the proofed platform. Although there have been some complaints about not enough work for all the freelancers that there are on there and lower pay, it’s at least a way to get my foot in somewhere and make a part time income. I will need to make an extra maybe $1000-$1500 dollars in order to afford to live with some assistance. I need to learn vocational skills and finish my higher education and maybe eventually I can get off disability and work closer to full time. I would still need to find reduced rent situation to live somewhere maybe for a few hours of work exchange. Or I will have to keep disability and find a house or apartment where it is section 8 or low income housing. I don’t think I will make enough to completely pay for everything myself which is sad but that’s the way things look right now. Life is ridiculously expensive even for those who work full time. Some employers don’t even pay health insurance and benefits to employees. I doubt I can work a full 40 hours a week without burning out but maybe I can work 20 hours. On a really good week maybe 25-30 hours and that is pushing it but maybe if can be done if done remotely and on a flexible schedule.
