The US has stopped producing pennies - just saw this at a store

"if you do not have correct change we will round up your purchase to the next 5 cent increment"

so they won't be making change (even though there are still lots of pennies in circulation and could charge you an extra 4 cents if they choose to).

of course if you use a debit or credit card you don't have to worry about it.

Thanks Trump.

It cost twice as much to make a penny then it's worth. This has been in discussion for years. Don't kid yourself you can't put this one on Trump no matter how much you want to

@Gibbon yeah I can, it was his decision to implement it

@Gibbon didn't vote for him - you just ASSumed.

I've read that there is some interest in finding an alternative mix to the current zinc copper that would cost lest to make - even looking at ceramics.

one of the "experts" said it really didn't matter what the coins were actually worth - it's all based on perceived value anyway.

@Gibbon I bet it is because Biden let all the illegals in and they stole the pennies. 😄

@Pretzel We can now say the government stopped making sense, er, cents.

Yeah they round up in five cent increments, but I wonder how much they will jack up prices AGAIN to make up for that? Or how they will price things in the near future so the final cost come to a five cent increment after tax.

@HoeBag thats what i said, creative pricing could end up being a lot of money by the end of the year
