What would be the first thing you’d do with the money?

A million isn't that much anymore, especially for the rest of your life depending on one's age, one catastrophe could really eat into it

@SW-User yes you are so correct. Does this mean you would save it for a rainy day? Or would you still make some spontaneous purchase to satisfy a need?

@Canuckle most likely save a good portion of it, even in multiple savings accounts up to the FDIC insurance limit on each, particularly now that iinterest rates are finally coming back up to historical norms

The average cost of a home now is a half million in some parts of the US, parts that are not even the most expensive parts of the US (e.g., Eureka California has a low overall cost of living compared to the national average, nevertheless the average home price is still above the national average, and we're not talking about mansions, just normal homes)

@SW-User Here it’s very similar $400000 starter homes. Young families buying a home may be a thing of the past.
