So basically.... My mom used to collect my pay before I got my bank account opened.

And I used to use around 20% of my pay and let her keep the rest. The idea was that I'm not a saver but a spender so she'd prevent me from spending it...
Anyway so today my new stethoscope arrived and for those of you who have worked in healthcare would know how expensive littmanns are, especially when converted from US dollars to 3rd word currencies. So I told my mom to retrieve the money from my pay that she had with her to pay for the package. They received my package.

....okay so now she just casually told me that there's no more money left from all my pays. I was like "yeah okay" and didn't react.

...but I'm wondering if she just said it so I wouldn't order anything else... Or if.... If it's actually gone and I shouldn't trust her with my money....
I still need to order a GPS device for the stethoscope. And I need money to buy my sunscreen/retinol. I'm so sad. I want to move out. I haven't even bought a facewash or gotten waxed for 2 months because I was saving for my stethoscope...this isn't fair.

Yes. Yes I did spend 35 dollars on a hand crocheted sweater. But it was a timeless piece.

Never trust somebody else with your own money…

It’s better to learn to control money yourself than to do that..
She manipulated you into believing she was saving your money. When she stated "there's no more money left" believe it! What you should be asking her is what did she spend your money on? Don't hand her a dime unless you want to hand out free money

oooo, having had my mom try to do this, using the same excuse, when all she really wanted to do was control me, this gives me PTSD.

@suzette yes. She just wants control. She's scared that I might learn to live without her. That one day I will not take her BS and walk out. She wants to keep my wings clipped.

$35 for a sweater doesnt seem outlandish

And yeah, if you have trouble saving, maybe you acquired that habit from your mother, and she hasnt been saving it, either?

@firefall I didn't acquire it from my mum. She's a saver. To the point of hoarding unnecessary things. I just had a mentally crippling phase of life 3 years back where I spent most of my money. But I can save when required. When I know I have nothing to fall back on. Yes retail therapy works for me. I have a bout of spontaneous shopping every 3 months or so... And so every 3 months I will end up spending 30 to 35 dollars on things I don't technically need.
But I can live on egg sandwiches and French toasts and mug brownies for months on end when I need to save.
Like I said... I didn't spend on luxuries like waxing and sunscreen and stuff for 2 months to save up for what I need. I wear the same pair of jeans I bought in 2017. I wear the shirts I buy for around 3 years. Yes I do buy a pair of shoes every year. Like.... I'm not sure howwww I'm overspending. I'm not. She just tells me that so I can always feel anxious and guilty. And I did for the longest time.

She stole from you. Wow. My parents have never stolen my hard earned money.
