I Feel Worried About Paying Off My Student Loans

College was not the best choice for me. As teens we are not told of the many choices we can take after graduation, it's always the 4 year + college route. People assume young adults know what career they want, but that's not the case for all of us. As a teen I really did not know what I wanted to do in life. I REALLY did not want to go to a four year University, trying subjects I would fail in while wasting money but I had no choice.

I had a passion for art, but what could I do with a degree in that besides becoming a starving artists? But now that I've graduated with a useless degree in liberal arts as a result of pressure from my parents to choose something in order to graduate, I'm having a difficult time paying off my loans. I've been pushing them back since last year because I can't find/stay in a position that long which is totally my fault. Now I get the bad news that every time I push back my loans, the interest rate goes up. All I hope is finding something long lasting SOON.
It's such an imbalanced global system of a small percentage of people holding most of the world's monetary wealth and the rest of us barely scraping by (or worse). The US (and others) college system is designed to get as many people in to college as possible, because they know kids will take out loans and must pay them back. Most 18-year-olds have no idea what they're doing, while they're pressured to sign that dotted line and go through the motions... Yet there is no promise of finding work after graduation, especially with wages high enough to make all of the bills laid on us all each month... Holy shit... That's why there are so many adults still living with their parents; skyrocketing rent plus student loan payments make it impossible for people to be financially independent. This is such a big issue and I can't possibly begin to explain in depth without compiling essays of information. You're not alone in your struggle, and I hope you don't feel worthless for being in this situation. It's not your fault; the system is flawed. Check out the graduation rates and that'll give a reality check. Sad and infuriating, but true.

Yeah I think a lot of students feel this way. I felt pressured to go to college too.
