I did want to let you know as someone who has awareness of the whole underground surrounding identity theft that the douchenozzle who did it probably wasn't targetting you specifically, those guys cast a wide net.
It'd horrify most people to be aware of the things i'm aware of when it comes to fraud.
The Darknets are not particularly difficult to access and stolen data is trafficked through it, those mag stripes on cards are easily forged
What i'm saying is there are whole underground markets and eco systems which exist to faciliate financial fraud- it's organized crime at this point.

@moonyean credential stuffing is only one of the vulrenabilites that i'm aware of. other than that thepolice have been fighting skimmers on the gas pumps and ATMs for years.
those magstripes are easily replicated it's 70 year old tech at this point. they call them skimmed dumps and sell them as track 1 and track 2.
with an MSR306 I think it was but that's close if not you can basically write to a blank card which means with the skimmer they write the card data too they can transfer it onto a new one and go shopping, it's been going on for years.... the guys who skim cards will often have a girl who works in the restraunts like... she pretends to drop the card and double swipes by her boot, same crew will go online and sell the data because they don't have the time to go through it all themselves.
it's pretty horrifying when you become aware of it all.

@moonyean I thnik the answer there is rather obvious though, labor is "appreciated" and "Celebrated" but underpaidi in our society. the way blue collar gets shafted is why we have so many crooked cops. Where security is actually paid well you don't have so many problems with loyalty.
