Lending stocks, yay or nay?

I noticed that Robinhood has added a stock lending feature. I’m always looking for the best possible return on my investments… what are the risks involved with lending? Is a bear market a good or bad time for that? Can someone who’s knowledgeable about stocks and investing explain it to me and maybe give some advice?

@Jimmy2016 I really satisfy with TOSAL, they have so many benefits and it has a fast deposit/withdrawal system although it is a bit complicated (hope that they will improve) . Other than that , they have a great customer service agent that able to assist you patiently onto anything with fast respond . This is one of my favorite broker overall

dont jump in and buy yet...too soon. the market will continue to drop...meet with several financial advisors to find one you are comfortable with before doing anything

Sounds risky - since short selling has no loss limits - not sure how RH is handling collateral....you might have to keep an offsetting amount on hand

Never ever borrow money against stock you own if that is what they are talking about.

@Subsumedpat but I would be the one lending, not borrowing?
Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
@Zeuro Ok, I did not understand the stock lending.

@BlueVeins index fund? What the diff between that and an ETF? I have a lot in ETFs
BlueVeins · 22-25
@Zeuro The main difference is that ETFs have a bunch of other assets like bonds & currencies, whereas index funds are just stonks. ETFs are cool though, for more risk-averse investing, I dig that.
