I gave my friend the check to pay off the rest of her credit card debt

$1,650. I did it the moment she got off work and she cried because she was so shocked lol. For a second I thought she was upset but she was really really happy. (: She is going to cash it tonight, using the mobile app. This is the end of a years-long fight with credit card debt, down from $20,000 at its worst, long before we met. She has a couple other debts to knock out still (some medical debt, debt to a friend, $25k in college loans) but nothing with a giant interest rate like this.

Her finances are still going to suck a lot. She makes $2500 or so a month, $1300 is going to go to rent, and another $200 to keep her storage locker. So that leaves only $1,000 a month or everything else that she needs. I tried to talk her out of the storage locker but she wouldn't budge. At this point, I just need to accept that I have done everything I can and that her future is her responsibility. This last gift has helped me make peace with that I guess, she definitely has a fighting chance.
