It's a bizarre concept how people save up for retirement

I'll probably work till I die. My generation got stuck with starting pay jobs no matter how much experience we have. I did college and everything. It means nothing.
I took my retirement midlife while I knew I could have an adventure and include my son. Since my parents passed at 65, I figured I'd better not hold out for a day that wouldn't come or I'd be too incapacitated to enjoy.
The system is so screwed. I see a lot of elderly trying to do everything alone because their families have to work and don't have time for them.
They want us to work until we die. Or until work kills us. I'm convinced the system wants minions to keep the billionaires on top. I'm not working that hard lol I'm not lazy, I'm just not a slave for anyone.

@pripyatamusementpark True but there’s always that possibility of serious illness or just old age when you might remain alive for a number of years without being able to work. There are no guarantees so retirement savings are in large part insurance against an uncertain future and those who are lucky get to spend at least a part of those savings on pleasurable pursuits.

@pripyatamusementpark its a FABLE..basically The squirrel works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building and improving his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks he’s a fool, and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.
