Could you live on $7,000 per month?

Illegal immigrants need money when they get to the US.

It appears that the city government of Chicago has spent about $7,000 of taxpayer money per month per illegal immigrant recently. This is according to a Chicago alderman. Inquiries into where this money went have been met with silence by the city government of Chicago.

Could you live in a new country on $7,000 per month? I think I'd be able to squeak by, but maybe I'm missing something so I thought I'd ask here.

Apparently the illegal immigrants don't actually GET the $7,000 per month. That money is spent on their behalf in mysterious ways. Wouldn't it make way more sense to simply GIVE each of them $7,000 per month and be done with it?

Most Illegal immigrants came to the US with little or no money. The $7,000 per month is a nice welcome gift. It seems to me that we should just give it to them outright so they could spur the economy with all that money they didn't earn. It would be an appropriate thank you, I guess.

Here is the story from CBS News (not exactly a bastion of conservatism. lol):

$7K Per month is $84K per year.
That's MUCH more than many people make on an annual basis.
Someone WORKING and making $20.00/hr x 40 hours per week = $800/week. You do the math, but that is much less than $7K per month.
Sounds like someone in Chicago is bad at math, or someone is lining their pockets.
I would suspect ther later.

@Teslin It IS Chicago after all. 😂
It’s more than I make now.
I could easily retire or buy a new car or get a better apartment.

A hundred of my fellow employees make less money and still have a mortgage and new cars.
7000 a month is ten times more than my friend gets from social security disability TEN TIMES.

The same is spent on the homeless here and it's a mix of immigrants and migrant people of all nationalities. The city and state added taxes for income brackets above a certain level. That money sits in a coffer unspent and without a plan in place. Meanwhile hundreds of little houses are being built on city property. Free rent, $1000 cash a month, and free food. No incentive to get them back productive in society. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Here are two "migrants" crossing the US-Mexico border. I guess rifles and body armor are in style with migrants these days.

If they end up in Chicago they'll probably be pulling in a little more than $7,000 per month.
Gee, I miss the days of legal immigration.
Hahahaha are you fucking kidding? Jesus yes. someone else pays for most of my expenses as it is I'd be Investing lmost all of it in building my business and spending almost NONE of it just DUMPING it into TOYs to make more money selling them and PIRATING literally ALL OF my entertainment. I download all of my shit for free. Fuckkk yeah, I'd even head up to caanda and get trained in fixing smartphones in like the first monthh like I already plan to.

just add it to the list of what's wrong in this country

but also, I believe it, I spent half my life in a (small) city, 350k, rent for a 'whole-in-the-wall' apt tops $1,500, average mortgage is $4k,

a city as big as Chicago, I can spending $7k on support services

@Highskirt I have one word of advice: vote.
TexChik · F
Without taxes I could make it work for just me, I have lived on much less while in school. But now, with all that is going on, nope.
would barely cover our mortgage and property tax burden
