Who are the best MMA fighters of all time? What's your tier list? Mine is below
10)Rhonda Rousey
9)Israel Adesanya
8)BJ Penn
7)Demitrius Johnson
6)Connor Mcgregor
5)Anderson Silva
4)Amanda Nunes
3)Khabib
2)Jon Jones (tho this spot could go either way between him and GSP)
1)George Saint Pierre (tho Jon Jones could be this spot could go either way between him and jon jones)
Two fighters who I wanted to put on this list but legit cannot seem to scale right, are Lyoto Machida and Francis Ngannou. Lyoto Machida has a get in an get out style, where he takes a lot of time before landing a strike, but if he does land a strike, it's insanely solid and ends the fight. I feel like he COULD beat almost anyone on this list (disregarding the factor of weight), tho is more likely to beat some people than others. If him and Jon Jones fought again, he COULD beat JJ, tho my money would still be on JJ side. If him and GSP fought at middle weight, my money would definitely by on GSP's side, but if Lyoto did get a KO, it wouldn't be the most surprising thing in the world.
Francis Ngannou is REALLY hard for me to scale. If he punches you, you probably willl have brain damage. Any heavy could beat him IF they could take him down and control the fight through good grappling while avoiding any clean shots (and I do mean ANY clean shots). He's an amazing boxer, and beat the former heavy weight goat (tho did loose the first time, which is worth noting). He just had such a short run it's so hard to say. If him and JJ had actually had that fight, it would reveal a lot. It's also worth noting that while he has a harder punch than pretty much anyone he will ever face, because he's in the heavy weight division, having the power to end a fight within a single punch isn't THAT much of a super-power... like many heavy weight fights are just slug fests. It's honestly just really tough to tell how good this guy is.
And again, GSP and Jon Jones could be exchanged and i'd be okay with it. There are some solid ways to justify Jon Jones being the GOAT. The reason I put GSP higher is honestly because he beat a guy who beat Anderson Silva (i'm talking of course about Michael Bisping) at a weight division he wasn't the king of. So, basically, Jon Jones was the king of the light-heavy weight division, and had one title fight at the division above that which he won. GSP was the king of the welterweigh division and also went to a weight class above himself, yet got a finish on a guy who beat the middle weight king of that division. This kind of establishes him as the GOAT in my book. He didn't just have two championship belt in two different weight classes, but got it by defeating a guy who defeated the king of one. Also of note is that Canada awarded him as the best athlete in Canada, and canada is a big fucking country.
