Everyone knows about samurai to a superficial extent, that is only natural when it comes to a foreign society and it's history. What bothers me is how much misinformation or flat denial there is where the subject of women warriors are concerned. There is an enormous amount of psychological discomfort with this concept in the west and this has done a great disservice to their gender when women have fought bravely in battle. In the west they always do this disguised as men and have been denied recognization by their own higher commands! In Japan, before westernization, they served openly...
