I Am In Love With a Fictional Character

I am in love with more than one character. And I don't mean in a crush way or in a passing way of "oh yeah this character is cool". I've been deeply in love with two characters for over 8 years and recently fell in love with a third.

I do not care for one more than the others, they are my darling dears, my lights in a dark place. Things aren't always happy or easy, them being 'fictional' doesn't make any hurts less legitimate or painful. I didn't decide to love them so intensely, but all the same I wouldn't trade them for anything.

Despite what people may think or judge me as, I am happy with them. I am living my life, experiencing new things, trying to find my way in this world, and I will continue to do so with my lovelies beside me.

I won't say who they are yet, but I am so thankful they're with me.

@silkandlace Aw, I definitely get that. When you feel close to characters in any capacity, there's going to be those periods of semi-depression. It's really nice you're able to tell your wife these sorts of things and not feel any shame. I fully plan on sharing how I feel with who I end up dating/marrying. Hopefully they don't take offense to me mooning over them now and then 😆

And I totally agree, you should never let this detract from your life. It's honestly the same as letting any sort of 'relationship' consume you. But don't worry! Not disrupting my life in the slightest ❤ People seem to think that I'd just let my life stop because of this but I'm still going out there trying to survive, not hiding away with my nose pressed to a screen.

Thank you so much for the offer too ❤

@silk Naw, when I was younger it did, but I've had over 8 years to make my peace with it. I just feel bad for those who do have it eating away at them, because it can be a rough thing to go through. I just hope that at some point I can help someone feel alright about it, that they aren't 'freaks' or anything, and still live their lives. Thank you though for the concern ❤ I honestly wasn't expecting any positivity posting this so I'm very pleasantly surprised!

Aw that's super adorable! I'm glad she gets it and even asks you about it, that's real love right there. Accepting that this is something meaningful to you! Glad you've got a wonderful woman like that

@Zio, ok good, i had wrongly assumed this was eating away at you, good to know that's your space with it! And yes i do share it, but she can already know without me saying, as i make such a huge deal of the release date of each book, it's actually like a small holiday for me, and she Always asks, though i give updates and it usually takes me about 2 days to devour each book, and i yap about it constantly for said 2 days, LOL

That's totally ok, the reason i ask is, i saw a profile here, and i won't say the name as it would totally give up the profile involved, but it was a combination of two names of characters I've fell in love with, not amorously, from my favorite books over the last 25 years; and i must tell you, there's been books that have sent me into semi-depression, so my point is that my love of these characters seems no less than your own, and I'm not afraid to admit it, I've even noted this to my wife!!!!

@silk I'm pretty meticulous about my dvds and books too, so you definitely aren't alone in that. Like I recently had a tizzy over my Marvel movies being out of chronological order.

(I'll stop spamming my own post now 😆, but if you ever want to hit me up with a private message, feel free! It's very enjoyable talking with you!)

What I really appreciate here is that many people older than 20 are in love with fictional characters. I BREATHE when I read that... Anyway, if you don't want to talk about it here, you can come and write to me in private if you agree....
Feel proud of what you feel.

Also, there's usually at least a year between books, so I'll tell you, i find myself at least that length of time pondering, not to the point it totally distracts my life, but its there, honestly

@silk Same here but with my games haha I have all my pretty cases neatly organized in a nice little collection right where I can see them. Nothing out of place. It's a strange sort of satisfaction, isn't it?
silkandlace · 46-50, M
There is a reply system, you can totally pvt of you want, if i can help, if not, try not to let it disrupt your life! As i said, it's been over 20 years for me, so it is a big deal, but not The End! :-)

@silkandlace This place really needs a reply system...

I'm not comfortable saying who they are, but all three of them are from video games.

Well, you always have your fantasies. All of us can say that. There's no risk! They can be whatever you want them to.

@Zio, I'm sure it's a disorder of some type, my dvds also, i just like chronological, ok, yeah, I'm a TOTAL dork, but it's ok with me!
silkandlace · 46-50, M
@Zio, and i actually have a "Library" now for my neediness, all my Lovely books all in a row!
silkandlace · 46-50, M
What characters are these, if i may, from games, books, etc???
silkandlace · 46-50, M
@Zio, see, that's what i thought i could lend to you!
