It still strikes me as weird that in some places schools start in August.

For me August is THE holiday month. I don't care about what happens on any other month, but I would feel like I'm in parallel universe if I saw kids going to school in AUGUST.

@Coppercoil Here in Oklahoma they used to start school in the more rural areas after the cotton was picked. I haven’t seen a cotton field in decades around here and there used to be a lot even in the 60’s
