like there must be a whole layer of subtext on this site that i cant see and that constantly fascinates me

No offense but I think the people that don't see certain things about the site are the ones that love the place and swear by it therefore they see what they want to see some people here will never see anything "bad" about the place

@BlueVeins maybe because you don't experience it you probably have never been harrassed or tried to be run off of the site like some people have I have friends that tell me all the time that they get targeted by the goody goods on here that try to run them off here
