TSA Screening
I don't fly very often but when I do I always wear some type of diaper due to my inconsistent bladder control issues.
In the past two years I have flown four times and the first three times I wore a pull up style Attends brand overnight protection diaper. These are pretty thick and I wondered if they would set off any kind of alert in the scanner due to the thickness but nothing ever happened.
Last week I was flying out of El Paso, Texas which I had done before with the Attends diaper and had no problem.
This time I decided to wear a much thinner diaper that used two cotton elastic type belts made by Depends that connect the front and back. These belts just go from front to back on each side over my hips but this time when I went through the scanner the belts set off some type of alert.
I don't know how the scanners really work but the agent pulled me aside and asked if I was wearing a belt under my clothes so it was obvious what was showing up.
I told the agent straight up what I was wearing. I decided to have a little fun with the agent and said I could lift my skirt and show them (with a playful smile)😁 but they declined saying that a pat down would be sufficient. My husband was standing off to the side watching with amusement. We had a good laugh over that.
In all seriousness though, I imagine they come across many passengers wearing a diaper for one reason or another so they really shouldn't be shocked by any means....J
