Most embarrassing bedwetting accident

For me it was when I wet the bed at summer camp in my early teens. It totally soaked my pajamas and through the sleeping bag and thin mattress and was humiliating even though the cabin counselor dealt with it in a really kind way.

Mine happened when I was 12. I was staying at my grandmother's house, and wet the bed. I was so embarrassed, I just made the bed without telling anyone, thinking no one would notice. But I'm sure they did very soon. No one ever mentioned anything to me. They just let it go. It would have been a positive lesson if they had come to me and let me know it was nothing for me to be embarrassed by, and that it was okay that it happened. But I think [i]they[/i] didn't know how to approach it in a healthy way. So, it was never talked about. I still get embarrassed about it when I think about it these days.

@PhoenixPhail I had accidents into puberty although a lot few as I got older. My mother was not happy when it happened but at least at home there wasn't a lot of fuss made about it. Having an accident at camp though was a lot bigger deal and more embarrassing for sure.

Accidents at camp were tough for sure. I had good counselors each time though so that helped. Did the other kids tease you?

@NathanielS I think it comes down to the way it's dealt with. It was my understanding that the counselors at the camp I attended were college students who had summer jobs there. A neighbor who once worked at a summer camp told me they were trained to deal with accidents.

@WetPeter Yeah, I think that's right that if it's dealt with well it just isn't a big deal (I mean, it shouldn't be anyway). I think bed wetting at camp probably isn't that uncommon just because the combination of just being super tired after a long day of activities or stress of being away from home and stuff like that can sometimes cause accidents even for kids who aren't or are no longer regular bed wetters.

@wetpants Yes, until another camper had an accident as well. He was older than me, a good athlete and very popular.
