I Like People Who Take Off Their Shoes Before Entering A Home

I’ve just bought a new house. It’s god beautiful wall to wall carpets throughout. The house is only a years old and the carpets are in immaculate condition. They are very light.
Shoes will not be getting past the door. I’d like to think that all visitors will automatically take their shoes off or ask. Those who don’t will be asked.
I don’t want my carpets ruining.

@SW-User Lol..... my aunt used to cover her living room furniture with plastic. Had everything but the red velvet rope to keep people out of there. Guess it was reserved for visits from the Pope and the Queen of England.

@LyricalOne it's unlikely the pope would drop in as I'm not a Catholic. The Queen has. Never dropped in unannounced in the history of her queenage. But when she does visit places that require shoes off she takes them off. It would be ungentlemany not to
As for a sign, I've have found one unnecessary as the British tend to be civilised and remove them. If they didn't I have no problem asking
I find it perplexing that those who may be affronted by being asked to remove shoes and think it's rude have no hesitation in swearing as if that isn't rude and uncivilised. Some people will never work out what 2+2 equals
