I'm in the uk and just about everyone I've known has taken their shoes off in the house. Not everyone has expected their guests to remove shoes.
I live in a rural area now and it's normal to remove shoes. I'm in the process of buying a new house. The carpets are a very light , and in pristine condition. Shoes will not be getting past the doorway.

I always take my shoes off when I get home as I've always gone barefoot at home

I'm from UK and I am always barefoot at home. Shoes come off and I absolutely hate just been in socks so it's barefoot for me

Here in Alberta Canada we know how many people are in the house by counting the shoes at the front door and dividing by two. Very rare to wear shoes in anyone's house.

J never wear shoes . I take them off at school and sometimes forget to put them back on when the bell rings then have to go back and get them when I notice I forgot to put them back on.

My carpet needs torn out of my house because of my dogs.. I really wear socks.. Mostly sandals/slippers here .. Socks are mostly just a winter boots thing for me
