How much do you worry about your tweenie daughter?
Chiara is increasingly engaged with and active in her sexuality and how others look at her, profoundly changing from a girl to a young woman. She had her menarche before her eleventh birthday (as I did, and my mother did), but she didn’t seem sexual even though she was deeply involved in her puberty sequence of changes and realisations.
She has the option to wear trousers at school if she chooses but when we bought her uniform she never asked for trousers, preferring skirts. Her skirts are knee length and she never gets a warning from her teachers for rolling her waistband, as some girls do in order to shorten her skirt length, to show off her legs to the boys.
She has been told to keep her knees together, however, and she has the habit of wearing white cotton undies, but also of going to school not wearing undies! I did the same, but I need to be as protective of her as my mother was of me at her age. It is not a good thing to expose yourself at school, even more importantly these days!
