do shoe stretchers work

im nearly 47 years of age, all my trainers and boots are size 12 uk size, but quite a few trainers are starting to feel a little tight on me, at the end of the shoe, even the size 13s trainers i have on now feel a little tight on my right foot....so i have two shoe stretchers which i got recently...so if i use the stretchers in my trainers that are a little tight, will it stretch them for me successfully?

not really. are they leather? if they are i can tell you how to stretch leather

@Penny some of my trainers are like a leather, nubuck, some are textile and canvas.

@darkmere1983 if theyre leather put a tied bag of water in them then put them in the freezer or spray the insides thoroughly with alcohol or water then walk around in them. either/ both will stretch them out

eta- youll want to condition the leather first especially with the freezer but for both with some mink oil.

@Penny thanks, sounds like a lot of trouble to go to, i'll try the shoe stretcher first off because i saw they have good results on youtube, also there's the putting of damp newspaper screwed up and pack the trainers with the damp newspaper and leave for 24hrs too.

@darkmere1983 maybe if you spray with alcohol or water then put stretchers on it will work. stretchers never worked for me but i only tried to stretch the width not the length. good luck
