In an attempt to reduce my screen time a little, I picked up a childhood hobby again: spool knitting!

But instead of just turning a thin thread into a thick rope, I figured it would be nice to do something with that. Me and a few friends always exchange gifts around the winter solstice and I hoped to make something myself by stringing the rope onto some thin iron wire and bend it into a shape.

I'm going to need a little more practice and maybe play around with different techniques before I'd consider it gift worthy, but the first attempt isn't bad as a proof of concept. I just need to work on making it a little neater, especially to connect the paralel lines tighter and flatter.

If I were Laura, I’d know the history, and I would be deeply honored and cry that you chose me as the recipient.

All the glitters is not gold. In fact, most that glitters is not gold.

I figured the problem is that the wire is too stiff to accurately bend into such detailed shapes, yet not stiff enough to hold the whole thing together well. So new plan: create little circles with a thicker wire around an object as a guide, add a full background with thinner wire and lots of connecting points, put one letter on each with really wire, and use the rainbow colors to connect them with separate ropes. Just waiting for some new supplies before I start that. 😌

If you ever had any hope of giving it to Laura, you can consider them dead if you give her that.
Just saying
@TheHammer why? I'm sure she'd still appreciate the effort. It's just not good enough for me.

It was a joke..if you ever wanted to give it to her like as you know? The pipe saying it like a gentleman. You could forget about it because..nevermind ..it was a joke.
I'm sure shes going to love it and it's just perfect the way it is and those who don't like it are not really your friends
