If they are leather...you could ruin them .
And the little black heel studs that serve as protectors can come off, making your heels uselss after that .

@OogieBoogie Oh OK. That's a shame :( Happened to me with a pair of ballet flats. Surprisingly they cleaned up really well. This was the result.
