Being on my feet in them for the best part of the day is likened to medieval torture devices on one's feet. I never used to like them but over the years trained myself to wear heels. I know they look smart, elegant and even sexy, but once I'm home I can't wait to kick them off and put my little ballet slippers on.

They do look lovely, but I agree, not always the most comfortable. Because I have flat feet and tight calves, I’ve always found a bit of a heel is more comfortable than flats, but like an open toe rather than closed
