Fascinating. To be given a personal tour by the artist is a real privilege and I'm sure you will remember that for a while.
The only experience I have had of a personal tour by an artist was from a student 3-D artist who specialised in 'concept art' in various media. It was well worth the explanations because I didn't understand any of it. However, the fact that he took the time to show me around and indulge my questions was something I appreciated. I have no idea whether he was able to go on to make a living out of it.
