Learn how to look appreciatively rather than leer like a pervert :)

LOL -- one woman's appreciative look might another's pervert ;-)
We dress to please ourselves but also to look good for others to see. Unless you leer at me, I wouldn't think you rude in looking at me.

Looking is fine, just don't stare.

@FTB, so some quick glances and a smile is better? So many times it seems like dressing for attention - either look how nice I look or just look at me. Am I completely misunderstanding it?

Yeah. But for a lot of people it's usually not about attention, it's more about simply wanting to look good, because everyone likes looking good and when it attracts attention, it's confirmation that you do look good. Especially after spending so much time getting ready.

Often socially if I see a woman that has obviously put time and effort into getting ready and looking smart, so to say, I will try to smile and offer a compliment on how that's a nice look or outfit. After all, she definitely put thought, time and effort into it. However, that's generally with someone I either know or have spoken with before and not a total stranger.

Indeed, tough to do!
Just look and enjoy. That's why she dresses that way. :)
