why do a lot of people wear baseball caps now and what do they signify

i find them annoying to be honest and the people who wear them to be sheep, just hopping on the bandwagon because other people are wearing them...but what do they mean? and why are they common now?

Some want to show off things they like or enjoy. I like wearing them sometimes when gonna be outside and want help keeping sun out of my eyes since I wear glasses and sunglasses can be annoying for me to use.

They also are a common accessory for sporty style outfits due to the history and use of them over the years.

And others like to use them as a cheaper option to hide a bald spot it seems too haha
