The swing dress, full-skirted and cinched at the waist, moved through the world on a cushion of crinoline, a dress made for dancing, for soda fountains, for the bright optimism of postwar America.

The pencil dress chose a different language: slim, deliberate, sculpted to the body in one unbroken line. Two ways of being elegant, both belonging to the same remarkable decade.

I’m really drawn to the swing style. To me it’s got this vibrant energy and rebellious edge that just clicks with me. It mixes sharp sophistication with a kind of rhythmic freedom that feels totally authentic and compelling.
