Foppish Indulgence:

This could as easily fit under the forum I Love Well Fitted Suits
I said in a post there, I advocate that there is no satisfaction that equals wearing a well-fitted suit. This applies equally to public, business and social settings.
While some occupations require or encourage wearing suits, there is a real pleasure and increase in confidence from dressing well.
I have to concur in the advice to younger men to try to have at least one conservatively tailored suit custom-made for you. It will be worth the expenditure in comfort, wear and satisfaction.

My subject here is that I recently had made a "made to measure" suit at Brooks Brothers. A close family member is getting married next month and I wanted a new, summer appropriate suit to wear. While I undertand this would not be quite the same as bespoke (which I did not have time for), i had satisfied myself that I could get the quality and weight of fabric I wanted and the cut in the British style I prefer. It also features the details one expects in a custom suit. I selecte a mid-blue with almst invisible glen plaid.
Some weeks later I received it and was quite pleased that no alteration was required. I thanked the cutter enthusiastically.
My enjoyment of the wedding will undoubtedly be enhanced.

I grew up with Brooks Brothers starting in the boys department. Their quality has really declined in the last 25-30 years.
@RedBaron I submit that they have restored their standards in the last couple of years. I was pleased to see that they were carrying classic polo coats with Loro Piana camelhair last winter.

Vanity is not a virtue.

@LamontCranston yet you speak of vanity. I don't speak of slovenliness.
@DeWayfarer Foppishness, yes. Vanity, no. You projected.

@LamontCranston I don't want to get biblical yet I could on this subject.
