My initial thought was that they are for females but I may be wrong

I think they are girls shoes, but the Doc Martens Style is quite boyish, I think these are really nice, and I’m just wondering if I could wear them without getting hassle. @Notsimilarreally

@Strongtea What sort of environment are you living in, where in the UK? I travel all over the UK dressed fem and never have any trouble. In fact most of the time if people notice me at all they compliment me on my outfit.

I live in a small town in the North East. I think if I wore these in the city it would be fine but I might get hassle where I live. Maybe just from people who know me. It could just be me, I don’t really stand up for myself, I’m seen as quite soft. @ninalanyon

@Strongtea I think you are right that it is mostly likely to be people who know you who think they can behave like that. But is it really likely? I mean have you been hassled before for standing out from the crowd? If not then perhaps you are worrying unduly.

It’s generally just little comments here and there, but I have been threatened with violence a couple of times, which made me very scared. I dress slightly different to other boys, but not outrageous or anything. I’m small so people generally know they could hurt me. It’s not too bad, I know how to avoid it, but I do have to avoid doing some things that I’d like too. @ninalanyon

@Strongtea That's horrible. No one should have to put up with that kind of behaviour. Especially from adults, they should know better and be better. It's the kind of behaviour that people should grow out of long before they leave school.

I know, they are kinda like sheep and want to ridicule anyone slightly different. I wasn’t the nicest person when I was younger and so I get that some of it is maybe deserved (this is generally the smaller/less threatening stuff) The stuff from total strangers is way scarier as it can be so random. I just try to assimilate a bit more in certain places, but I always feel a little bit rubbish if I can’t be who I want to. @ninalanyon

I totally dream of that! Yes maybe I need to make it reality. @ninalanyon

@Strongtea Don't just dream about it, work at it. You don't need to set your sights ever so high. A small step in the right direction can give you confidence to take the next one.
