Do you care about your appearance much?

I do like individual style, but I think some people take it way too far!!!@ninalanyon

@Strongtea Perhaps some do. But the vast majority of people don't take it far enough. The shops are full of cheap, well made, colourful clothes yet vast numbers of people wear boring jeans and boring tee-shirts.

@Strongtea Well, I think that too. But taste is really a matter of taste :-)
The people you think have no taste might look like the most tasteful there are to me, and vice versa.

And wouldn't it be dreadfully boring if everyone dressed according to what one other person declared to be good taste?

I grew up in the sixties and seventies when a lot of grumpy old people were of the opinion that standards of taste were falling faster than hemlines were rising. But civilization didn't collapse.

I do see a lot of girls these days with ultra short dresses on, they will probs regret that style when they’re older lol! But I do get what you’re saying.@ninalanyon

@Strongtea Well I am older and all the girls I knew in the sixties and seventies are similarly older. None of them regret wearing miniskirts or bikinis. And what is it that you think they will actually regret? Is it the length of the skirt or judgmental views of busy bodies with nothing better to fill their time with than criticizing other people?

I suppose I think they’re going to see the photographs of themselves and realise how bad they looked. My girlf wouldn’t dare be seen in something like that, she hates them.@ninalanyon

Ok, I see your point, she had great style! My girlf will only wear knee length stuff, she doesn’t like anything shorter. @ninalanyon

@Strongtea So long as it's her free choice then it's all good. Just so long as in fifty years time she won't regret not showing off her legs while they were good :-)

@ninalanyon I do kind of tell her what to wear, but she picks stuff and has her input too. She tells me what to wear too so that we like how we both look.

@Strongtea Here's a challenge. Choose a date where you both decide on your own what to wear. No inputs!

And then you have to say 3 positive things about eachothers choice of outfit. It's about being honest about your personalities and learn to see what eachother likes and why.

That's exactly what I was trying to get at. You and your girlfriend haven't really been choosing for yourselves.

Of course it might turn out that she doesn't really like skirts at all :-)
