What happened to the days when men wore suits as casual wear men in the 1950’s men in that era used to dress up in suits as every day apparel?

I am very glad they are gone!

I do enjoy dressing up now and then for special occasions, but wearing a suit all the time is something I find suffocating.

As a child in the 1950's, I often had to wear a suit, and my memories are of constant itching!

@DrWatson I would see men wearing full suits in the summer and it seemed that they would get so hot wearing all of that. Might be easier to wear in colder weather. And a necktie seems very uncomfortable.

@cherokeepatti My father-in-law had a very thick neck. Whenever he wore a suit, he wore a bolo instead of a tie.

@DrWatson yeah much better than wearing a bow tie. There was a local newscaster who wore a bow tie from the time he started his tv news career. A few months before he got promoted he lost the bow tie and started wearing a neck tie. Now he reports from D.C.
