Do Europeans laugh at mostly rich North Americans who are cool with dropping 2K on a bag or a pair of shoes just because they were designed by some

@Elessar I was kind of curious about this. I mean I don't know about Milan but I have friends who lived in Paris who kind of think foreigners and tourists are idiots for idolizing their city and paying a premium for that facade.

Like if there was a fashion boom here and someone paid 3k for a bag made in Winnipeg I would laugh my ass off.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Parisians are known for that, all the memes you see about French people being snobbish at tourists/foreigners is actually modeled after some Parisians' stereotypical behavior; Milan as far as I know has nothing similar; at most, some will "snob" southern Italians due to decades of anti-south campaign by some populist party later become anti-immigration, once it realized southern people vote too 😅

@Elessar The people I am talking about are not the stereotypical snobbish types. They just know Paris is just a big city like many, many others and don't get why foreigners think it is so special.

And I mean it makes sense. Most of the stuff tourists go on about are just the tourist traps in the brochures (dating myself there).

My city would seem pretty cool if you only saw the tourist attractions and the mansions on Wellington Crescent.

But where I live you have machete weilding tweakers and meth labs (wish I was kidding).

It is kind of like judging Florida if you have never been off the 5 star resort.
