@ShaythePanTransMan Well... maybe it's that the goth look on a girl - has an aura of danger. Which many men find attractive.

Meanwhile, the Goth look on a guy... makes him look like he's got a lot of emotional baggage. Unattractive to girls - who in many cases have a lot of their own already for a variety of reasons.

Does that make sense? It's just a thought...

Dress a chick up in the most pathetic, whiney, depressed, worthless identity as possible, she will still be hot. Or it will give her an innocent "Awww, I want to protect her" feeling to it.

The difference is men don't really care about conceptual schemas, but that's all women care about.

So yeah, it's the same concept as you would think a bodybuilder male would be attractive--and from a male aesthetic appreciation standpoint--we would see a ripped man as "must be attractive to women," but it's actually a negative in most women's minds, and they'll come up with all kinds of ways to shit on it, like viewing it as egocentric or anal retentive or a lack of free spiritedness. Unless it's portrayed in the right light to pre-emptively counter those preconceptions.

And as you say, a goth guy states "weak, broken, emotional," which are not desireable male characteristics. There has to be power mixed in.
