For two reasons tjat I can see...
1,the hand straps are plaited - makes them strong, harder to cut with a knife, and they go right down the bag, they won't ever have wear on where they join like the second, and they make the bag stronger.
2 the shoulder strap is is softer and wider...it will be more comfortable
Oh, and lastly - the whole.bag looks softer.
This means if you're sitting in a taxi or in a bus, it's easier to shove beside you and be comfortable.
And will also be more comfortable should you use the hand straps as a shoulder carry, it will confirm to your body shape.
Oh, and the external pockets zip shut.
On the second one, they are not secure.
Geez🙄😁... One more thing I noticed - those clips on the shoulderstrap on the second bag - theyre cheap shit - weak design.
Amd even should the clips break in the first one (which I doubt as much) there, are two metal loops left In which to.use a hanky or hair tie to tie it back together at least till you get home)
