Do you share my sadness at the loss of elegance in the clothes that people wear today?

I am now of that painfully nostalgia-seeking age where I yearn for the return of the style and elegance I remember from my earlier years. When I dress to go out for a meal in a restaurant, I often feel over dressed. I guess it is an age thing but what do you think?

I appreciate that not everyone feels comfortable in smart clothes; it could be that the individual has issues with self image, for example. I see pictures of everyday people from the 60s and 70s and they look so much smarter. I recently saw a picture of myself, as a young man, about to set off on a pub trip to a rugby international. Most of us were wearing a jacket and tie. That wouldn't happen today!
