what can one use in place of nail primer for acrylic nails?

I'm actually using it to repair breaks/tears in my REAL nails. I just learned of this technique. I had nail primer but tossed it months ago as I was no longer [b]trying[/b] to grow my nails and stuff. Bu They started growing without me tending to them and trying, so now I want them😁

I read that polish remover [i]can[/i]be used but that it may not be as effective. Anyone actually [b]tried it[/b]?

I have acrylic 'patches' on some of my nails and they are lifting. They have only been on 2 days.
