Do I have to be pretty to be a model?

I've been recently applying online for modeling gigs. I love clothes, jewelry, body art, cosplay and posing. I don't think I am particularly awful looking or at least i don't think so but I'm definitely not pretty. Slightly below average. Is modeling a no go for me or could personality land me some gigs? I just think it would be fun to do.

and yes i have relatives who model BUT.. because of their looks and height..... uh, they do what did my niece call it?

well she does fetish stuff now. because her looks are too masculine and she's 5'5".
