DEFINITION
In the earliest use of the 'Middle English' word it was commonly used for a female child, girl or female servant/bondwoman and meant 'a lovely girl or maiden'.
It later came to mean 'prostitute', so if you want to use that word to describe a girl you know today and you're near her, cover your face with both arms ...lol
