Would it be appropriate to give food to my partner’s family?

I’m a bit hesitant considering their customs but they’re currently dealing with the grief of grandma falling severely ill. I also care for her dearly but am unsure if I’ll manage visiting her given her state. Perhaps some food enough for the next few days will be a considerable thought to let them know I’m near?

I was thinking tamales or something.

Probably a stupid question since ive seen in movies that this is a common practice after someone loses a loved one but I’m unsure.

Or are they any other suggested ways to offer my support? Thanks.

I think it's a wonderful caring gesture, and I know from others how much it is appreciated... when times are hard.
