What is it that schools do in 'admin' days that they can't do during the time school is closed. I love my daughters but I also have to support them by working.

Ive been a single parent, but tbh schools not a baby sitter!
@SW-User Not asking for a baby sitter asking why the school is closed on random days for 'admin'. Most places of work do their admin and manage to stay open.

@Mumoftwo sounds like you are, schools aren't really a business place, or really shouldn't be, that's not their role.
@Mumoftwo Another instance where the bureaucratic tail wags the dog. I don't know where you are and I might misremember this, but I recall hearing something about 'admin' days being part of school/union contracts.
Never occurred to me until this moment, but wouldn't such times be a dandy opportunity for older students to make a mint babysitting groups? Maybe in cooperation with a local youth center? Might be worth bringing up at PTA.
@Mumoftwo I meant setting up some cooperative enterprise for high school kids, say, in home economics or maybe parenting classes or whatever the heck they teach now. A 'field-day' for them, reduced babysitting rates for parents.

Non obligatory efforts of schools more often unpaid, breakfast clubs, after school clubs, lunch and break clubs, school fates and fairs raising money for student trips and resources etc. Staffed student excursions, over night trips. Idk maybe I'm wrong.
