I Admire Single Mothers

I see guys saying they would never date a single mom. I see single moms say no guys want to date a single mom. The guys are just complete idiots that don't want responsibility and possible drama. I have dated single moms, you have to be more flexible and recognize that she can't just drop everything and go out all the time. I would date another single mom any time. She deserves your respect and admiration just like any other woman... maybe even more so. She plays so many roles and it makes her stronger, it also means she needs a break from the kid(s). She can be the greatest gift to a man if you can just recognize her situation and take the time to show her that her and her child(ren) mean something to you.

I would also extend that to single fathers. I was a single father years ago, as a primary caretaker, and it was a challenge to date anyone. They didn't understand that you couldn't spend entire weekends together, or run off at the drop of a hat, or that you "had" to interact with your child's mother for years on end.

One incident that I still remember is being on the phone with a serious girlfriend, who I had dated for a while and was very attached to, and she confessed to me that the relationship wasn't going to go anywhere because I had a child that was not hers and she just realized she couldn't deal with it. We broke up right then.

I agree with most everything you say here. They are most times the most responsible and worthwhile partners on a casual date. However that being said one must always keep in mind that any deeper relationship with them will require a greater commitment and involvement with their previous lives. The ex-husband or father, unless deceased, will always be a part of any future interactions. In short, they come upon the scene with some burdens you may not be prepared to carry.
