I Am Pregnant

I’m in slow-labour, which means that my baby is more likely to be born earlier than I expected her to be.

I wanted to share my whole journey with everyone here, and it has really helped me to do this. I never expected it to possibly be coming to an end so soon, nor did I expect to be bringing life into this world while I’m so young, or during such a scary time.

There’s a chance that this phase could continue for a few days. I can be given medication to slow down contractions and slow down my labour, but I’ve been reassured that babies born after their 34th week are generally just as healthy as babies born in their 40th week.

As it stands, they’re allowing me to stay home and monitor my contractions myself. COVID-19 means that they would prefer for me to wait as long as possible before attending hospital. My contractions are irregular and keep stopping/starting. If they become regular and more frequent, or if my waters break, I’ll be referred to hospital.

Due to my age, my pregnancy has always been classed as high-risk and I’ve always been less-likely to carry my baby to the full 40 weeks. This means that, while it is still a surprise to me, it isn’t a complete shock.

I hope to continue posting updates on here and talking to you all. I could still carry her to full-term, but if my labour progresses, I think they will decide to deliver her.
