What possesses some people to adopt the horrible high pitched whiny shriek voice whenever they speak to young children? How old do they have to get before these people knock it off?

My first two kids were talking well, months before their second birthdays. We lived with my parents and we all talked to them as people, not as babies. Not that the didn't get the peekaboos and kitchykoos. Thet did, but when speaking we spoke. We didn't babble or shriek. The second two, took longer to learn, because I was working and they had sitters.

The difference with pets and children however, is that one will eventually learn how to speak... Oh, and one of them is actually worth money :)

The little beings like it an also it's the endering excited tone.. I use it to my pets when I tell them how cute and beautiful and loved and adored and wonderful they are and how much I love them so much too.. Because pets are lil people too

I have a very deep voice that carries really well. A lot of small kids are scared of my "natural " voice, so I adjust it up and that automatically makes it softer. I REALLY hate that screechy high pitched squeak that some people have though. Lol
I don't know but it's annoying af!

I don't know how children ever learn to speak properly after listening to those babbling idiots!

If you want a child to learn how to speak then talk to them as you would any other person.
